David Farthing was born on May 27, 1966 in Baton Rouge, La at 2:00 a.m. This makes him a Gemini, a designation he finds irrelevant. His writing career began as a junior at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics where he won the National Council for Teachers of English Youth in Writing Award. He attended Appalachian State University where he was the Opinion Page Editor for a semester before leaving school to become a secretary and librarian at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. His next job was an Associate Editor at Publications and Communications, Inc. in the Marlin, Texas office where he was responsible for writing, editing and layout of three computer-related, monthly publications. He then moved into the Austin office to become a graphic designer. Currently, he is employed as a home health aide caring for the elderly and writes in his spare time.
